In Loving Memory
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lawrence Herberton Miller, who departed this life on January 16, 2026, at the age of 74. Beloved by family and friends, Lawrence will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit. Born on February 13, 1951, he touched the lives of many with his warmth and dedication. As a young man, he is remembered as responsible and a great caretaker and cook for his younger siblings. He was the eldest of eight children and took his role seriously. He completed his education at Preston High School in Linden, Guyana and went on to become a Welder at the Aluminum Plant in 1971. His family was his greatest achievement, and Lawrence made every effort to ensure that all his children were successful. Later, he started working as a minibus driver where he is remembered for his kindness by many that use his services. He migrated to the USA in 2006 and worked as a Retail Associate at Macy’s until his retirement in 2016 to become the most attentive grandparent to Kellecia, DeAndre and Maverick. His dream of becoming an auto mechanic never materialized but he was immensely proud when Thierry, his grandson, chose that profession. He was gleaming with pride and would look forward to those conversations about pistons, engines and all that good stuff.
Lawrence is survived by his wife Joy, his mother, Albina Retemiah, his bonus dad, James Retemiah, his children, Michelle, Rhonda, Racquel, Troy, Ryan, Tandika and Keon. Sons-in-law Wade and Dwayne. Daughters in law Shanees, Mellecia and Omefa. His grandchildren, Lititia, Tevin, Jevon, Shariis, Tarique, Tyrece, Tarryl, Tramere, Trinese, Malik, Rashad, Ryan Jr, Thierry, DeAndre, Kellecia and Maverick. Great Grands, Kefon and Zyaire. He was the relative of the Mitchells, Millers, Giddings, Jonases, Cho-chuns, Kellmans, Grants, Andries and Dubisettes and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May Lawrence's memory be a blessing and a source of comfort to those who mourn his loss.
